Starting to Crochet
Over the past month I have started to learn to crochet. It was the one craft that had eluded me for years. I made it my goal to finally sit down and figure it out. With the help of my co-worker, who had started crocheting a few months before I started, I was able to understand the basics and start making some cool stuff.
Not every craft comes out perfect at first. I started with squares and rectangles and kept going until the very inconsistent edged finally started to smooth out and make some sense. From squares, I moved on to circles, which I admit took watching more than a few youtube videos to figure out. Now that I’ve brushed up on my multiples of 6, I really enjoy crocheting in the round.
Once I got a handle on walking I immediately wanted to run. I got on Pinterest and started looking for easy animal patterns that I could follow. I came across a pattern from 1dogwoof that I absolutely feel in love with. The giant unicorn was made up of basic shapes and had a pattern i could easily follow. I got to work right away with a trip to Michaels and got all the yarn i would need. It took me almost 2 weeks to finish the unicorn but I loved the results. As always, there was room for improvement but it was a great learning experience.
I can't wait to dive into some new crochet projects!
